In both her professional and personal life, Amy has been an advocate for human and women’s rights for more than 15 years. She was drawn to Equal Justice Under Law because its cutting-edge legal work has been so effective in challenging the injustices of a for-profit prison system that benefits from mass incarceration.
As a 10-year veteran in fundraising, marketing and communications for international human rights and women’s rights groups, Amy helps Equal Justice Under Law design and execute broad-based fundraising strategies to sustain its vital work. Previously, she served as the Head of Development for Just Associates—a global women’s movement-building organization—and as the Development Director for the Center for American Progress’ Enough Project, aimed at ending genocide in central Africa. Most recently, she served as a Development Consultant to several entrepreneurial human rights and environmental NGOs, and as a producer on creative communications projects commissioned by the Alabama Media Group and GovEx, a project of John Hopkins and Bloomberg Philanthropies.
On her own time, Amy has organized events and fundraisers in support of local LGBTQ arts, women’s health and youth mentorship programs, and was named Volunteer of the Year by the DC Abortion Fund. She also enjoys rock climbing, scuba diving, taking on new creative projects and music.
Amy graduated summa cum laude with a Master’s in Sociology from American University and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Missouri.
