Keith Berner joins Equal Justice Under Law following nearly 30 years of service to nonprofit organizations, most recently as IT director with Freedom House, an international advocate for human rights and democracy. Keith’s diverse background includes positions as executive director, writer/editor, and finance manager. To complement his part-time role with Equal Justice, Keith has his own tech support and consulting business, Takoma Tech.
Keith has been a political activist nearly his entire life, including having had his picture in Time Magazine in 1972, as a volunteer with George McGovern’s presidential campaign (at age 12). He has worked on numerous political campaigns and writes an occasional political blog, Left-Hand View. He was raised in the Ludlow neighborhood of Shaker Heights, OH, which was the first purposely integrated community in the country.
Keith holds master’s degrees in international relations from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (’89) and in technology management from University of Maryland/University College (’12). He lives in Takoma Park, MD with his graphic-designer wife, a dog and two cats.
